Professional Support by SIAE
Professional support includes:
- development of innovative approaches, professional materials, guidance tools, databases, etc,
- professional support to guidance counsellors,
- training of counsellors,
- guidance to professional public
- joint professional and promotional events,
- ensuring system positioning and networking at national level,
- participation at European level: EAEA, UNESCO, Erasmus+ projects.
DEVELOPMENT
The developmental and professional work carried out by the SIAE to support the public network includes:
- Positioning of adult education guidance activities in the adult education system. We were involved in the preparation of the key document, which defines the framework and content of guidance in adult education as a public service; Guidelines for implementing adult education guidance as a public service.
- Preparation of various professional materials to support the guidance work in adult education. Manuals and other materials (in Slovene) can be found here.
- Development and adaptation of various guidance tools that support the implementation guidance process. All tools are available (in Slovene) here.
- Developing and implementing innovative approaches to guidance, such as outreach, on-line counselling, workplace counselling.
- Development of ICT applications and tools to monitor guidance activities.
- Preparation and continuous updating of various databases; we maintain a common online database that can help counsellors in guidance process.
- Preparation and implementation of basic and continuous training for counsellors in adult education guidance.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
YouthReach: Outreach-Inclusive and Transformative Framework for All
The aim of the project was to design a training programme for professionals (in the field of social work, adult education, volunteers) who carry outreach activities for young people, and a methodological guide that can be used by professionals in their work with vulnerable groups of young adults. We have also developed a handbook that aims to provide explanations and tools to improve the quality of outreach by creating a dialogue between stakeholders.

The aim of the project was to increase the interest and involvement of adults in adult education through effective outreach, guidance, and motivation approaches. The project produced a self-study manual and recommendations for policymakers.

Guidance for Low- Skilled Adults towards Skills Assessment and Validation – GLAS
The aim of the project was to develop a Methodology for assessment and validation of digital, numeracy and literacy skills for adult education and counsellors. Implementation guidelines have been developed, defining measures and common principles for the assessment and validation of key competences. Furthermore, Recommendations for mainstreaming of methodology have also been developed.

COLLABORATION
We are active in national and international groups and associations.
We continually work with other counselling networks in Slovenian on the exchange of knowledge and experience and the incorporation of this field into the education system. Partner networking and cooperation take place within the scope of the development and updating of the portal of all Slovenian networks that deal with the area of adult education. Through our member, we participate in the national Lifelong Career Orientation (VKO) Expert Group. We have the strongest ties with the Employment Service of Slovenia, National Education Institute Slovenia, the Association Of Free Trade Unions Of Slovenia, the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training (CPI), the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia.
Internationally, we are members of the European Association For Adult Education (EAEA).
